Fridged Ziva (who's been off the show for years b/c they didn't want to pay the actress) and then threw in a previously unknown child so that Tony had A Reason To Grow Into A New Phase Of His Life. (Note that the mad killer didn't manage to kill Fornell, the male FBI agent.)
I actually said/yelled, "Thank god my mother is not alive to see this!" loud enough that the kids came to see what happened. (#2Son came in the room saying, "Who'd they fridge?" so at least I have gotten them to the point where they understand. Small consolation.)
I stopped watching in 2012 due to the complete utter lack of character development (or rather, the backwards development) and I'm glad I stopped when I did.
I'm so pissed. I mean, they managed not to fridge her when Cote left; doing it now is even *more* insulting. (I haven't watched in years either but watched one more time, unfortunately.)
The more I think about it, the madder I am, and it's not like I expect a lot from a formulaic procedural, but gdi, come up with *something*. NCIS isn't really something I feel compelled to write, but there is a giant fuck you brewing in the back of my brain.
Even while I was sputtering furiously at the TV, I was still missing the characters. I may be pissed enough to write the (clearly unfilmed) ending, where Tony gets up in the middle of the night (because he's not sleeping much these days) and goes to get a glass of water (because he's not getting near anything alcoholic either) and finds Ziva sitting at the little kitchen table of his and Senior's Paris apartment. Shouting, tears, hurt feelings, overwhelming gratitude ensue.
I mean, Ziva was literally RAISED IN SPYCRAFT. It would make far more sense to me that she would have safeguards in place where it looked like she was dead so she could go after the enemy who thought she was out of the picture, than for her to assume "Oh, an idyllic cottage in the countryside, no one will come after me here!"

(there were eecards going around some time ago that read "I'm so sorry that your fandom canon creators are dumbasses". Consider this one of those.)

UGH. This show! Why am I still watching it! (I know why, but team feels may no longer be an option.)
