Oh, look what I found in my Drafts folder...

Um, I totally forgot I did this 2016 fandom round-up meme, so it's a little outdated, but it's not like I'm not always running a month behind anyway, right?

1. Your main fandom of the year?

I suppose I'm still in the MCU fandom, as that's where the majority of my fan-related creations were.

My money all went to Hamilton, but that's because holy crap, I have never spent so much on a single set of tickets in my life. I didn't spend that much to fly the entire flipping family overseas (which, okay, that was because I play the points game, but still.) The extent of my fannish involvement there was limited to reblogging pretty gif sets on tumblr, though.

2. Your favorite film watched this year?

I had a lot of fun with Star Trek Beyond (though that was mostly because I ignored previous canon and went off on my own) and I didn't mind Captain America: Civil War (though again, ditto), and I still haven’t seen Arrival, so I guess I'm going with Rogue One, because wow, I still can't believe they went there.

3. Your favorite book read this year?

My favorite fictional, new-to-me book was probably Bloodlines, by Claudia Gray, just because I can't not ignore an awesomely written Princess Leia Organa. (Honorable mention goes to The Bookshop on the Corner, by Jenny Colgan, which fell into my life at the precise right moment and wrapped me up in cozy comfort, but I think that's skewed by the timing.) My favorite re-read was the audiobook of Pride and Prejudice, narrated by Rosamund Pike—I heard so many nuances I'd never noticed in all the years of re-reading.

4. Your favorite TV show of the year?

The Crown, omg. I also was persuaded by the boys to skip the first 2 seasons of Parks and Rec and give the rest of it a try, which turned out to be excellent advice.

5. Your favorite online fandom community of the year?

I have a tumblr, but mostly just for the pretty pictures. Twitter and I are not exactly on the best of terms, and I'm not sure if AO3 counts as a community, so I guess we'll stay with the familiar of dw/lj.

6. Your best new fandom discovery of the year?

Does Parks and Rec count? (At least I understand the .gif sets on tumblr better…?) I adored Mike Coulter as Luke Cage, but I haven't made it through the series yet; I totally missed the boat for Yuri on Ice
Maybe Hamilton? It's hardly a discovery, though--more like a tsunami.

7. Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?

The Independence Day sequel was just such a let-down. It wasn't even bad in a good way, just totally meh.

8. Your TV boyfriend of the year?

Look, video sort of flows together at my house, what with how I'm generally watching most movies on the tv, etc, so I don't really feel like it's cheating to go with Karl Urban's Bones. It's hard not to love that crabby genius. But if we're being super-strict about it, then I could possibly go with Jon Snow, purely for that ill-advised run across the field, because *everyone* knew he was going to do something noble and desperate and stupid but he was still so surprised to look up and see the army bearing down on him. And the resigned way he drew his sword, ready to die (again) because he just can't do the smart thing. (That scene, especially the shot from behind with all the horses bearing down on him might never be topped in my personal 'oh, look, that's the character right there, visually' pantheon.)

nb: In 2015, this would have been Ross Poldark, but then (as I knew, having watched and obsessed over the original series and the books) his fall from grace happened this season, and it infuriated me even more than I expected/remembered, so yeah, nope. I'd take Demelza in his place, though.

9. Your TV girlfriend of the year?

The Hon. Phryne Fisher. I don't even do clothes and I swoon at least once an ep at hers.

10. Your biggest squee moment of the year?

Does walking out of Star Trek Beyond and realizing that they'd kind of just ignored ITD count? Because I totally got a thrill out of deciding to ignore a certain Admiral's death…

I am with you on Star trek Beyond. Ignoring ITD was the highlight and this one was so much fun. I loved it to pieces.
