Brilliant fic! I've never seen the inspiration movie, but the plot was still sort of familiar in that best comforting way, and it was really enjoyable. There was a refreshing lack of angst. And Lady Frances is who I want to be when I grow up, a feisty old gal. The only bad thing is although I like the ending, I just want to keep reading it. I'm invested, I want to read about Jared growing up and finding his place in this world.
