YAY!!!

I'm feeling perversely glad that you're *not* on my flist (though that's about to change, I think), because that way I've had the enormous pleasure of reading this as a total surprise. I remember reading Sugar Shock and loving it and the versions of the Js that you'd written there. But I had no idea you were doing a BB-length prequel.

This is really awesome. The concept and the characters and the relationships all manage to feel real and true, and everyone seems so believable. This is one of the things I'm really picky about when I read fic, and I have to say you've succeeded at it with flying colors. The boys have their own issues and their own stories, and they're complete people on their own without being utterly empty until they get involved with each other.

I totally buy both of their 'how I got to where I am' stories, and the way they fit together in Sugar Shock is all the sweeter (pun totally intended) for knowing where they came from and how they got together.

I'm also tickled that you didn't wrap everything up super neatly. Jensen's relationship with his family is still strained. Mackenzie's resolution is left to the reader's imagination. Who knows what Jared figures out about his life between the travelling show and the in-home one of Sugar Shock. Makes the whole universe feel more honest.

Yeah, so you probably get the point that I really liked this, right? A lot a lot a lot.

And I'm now going to add you to my flist, because much as this was a fabulous surprise, I think I'd rather stay up to date on what you're posting when you post it.
