I really like how the story's pace follows so closely along with Kono, drawing the reader deeper into her and her perspective; so hot and edgy and restless in the beginning and then the sharp climax (hah!) when she and Steve come together and then the slow, sweet ease of the aftermath and afterglow and the bit of extra tenderness that comes with it at the end.
I don't read much Steve/Danny fic, not because I don't like it (I do) but because I get so much of what I want from that relationship from the show; I like reading stuff with Kono and Chin more, in particular, because I want so much more of them than the show really gives me...and this is such a deeply satisfying slice of her; something I can picture easily as canon and something that captures not only her in gesture and voice and plausible thought, in all her contradictions and fierceness, but Steve, as well.
And then, too, I love how you write about Hawaii. And this is true even of Caught Inside. You write about it in this very unobtrusive way; it's not exposition heavy or out of place, but it's, at the same time, so palpably there, something you show and showcase as lovingly as the characters feel about it and your love and familiarity and care bleeds into theirs in this very convincing, skillful way and I just love it a lot. Thanks.
