The pace on this was so not my normal plot--I usually build to the sex and then we're done, but that was only half their issue. It was the ice-breaker that let them connect later, but only because Kono kicked down every wall Steve tried to build (because he let her in in the first place.)
And Hawaii and I... I used to say we had a complicated relationship, but being real, we weren't complicated. It was everything else in my life that was a disaster at that time. Hawaii and I were pure love--the complications came from the mess that I surrounded myself with, but hey, it got me there. It wasn't a complete waste. :D
Anyway, I'm glad my love for the islands comes through when I write it, because it really is like a living breathing creature in my memories. A personality of her own.
