I just looked at my AO3 account, and there are five PAGES of things I've bookmarked to rec since October when it took me two weeks to rec the last batch of things I'd fallen in love/lust with. That's just the stuff I liked well enough to want to pass it along and it doesn't count the yuletide bookmarks I did manage to rec before the author reveals. The d/l feature is total crack--I don't even have to have a connection. It is fabulous!
I was just chatting with a friend today who said she'd been reading lots of freebie kindle books and thus looking forward to reading a few books that had been properly edited, and, seriously, fandom has spoiled me *forever* because NO WAY am I going to read badly edited stuff just because it's free and reasonably well-thought-out. Not when I can go roll around in gloriously awesome, lovingly crafted stories like you can in fandom.
