Okay, so I’ve been feeling low-key crappy the last 10 days or so: just sort of a fever and aches like I was trying to get the flu but none of the other symptoms, and then it felt like I’d like fallen and had a bruise on my back but I couldn’t figure when that might have gone on. And of course somebody got the bright idea to shove some code into production today which meant we had to get everything pushed out and QA’d by Friday so I was not taking any time off or even working from home last week so it took until today to get to the doctor. Apparently what happened was is that somehow I got a cut on my back and it got infected with some nasty, nasty bug. So I’m taking ibuprofen every four hours to try to keep the fever stuff down, and I’m on some horse pill of a sulfa drug (because of course I’m allergic to penicillin and all its derivatives and Keflex too.) And I’m staggering around the shops and malls and everything with the boys, trying to figure out who I still need to get Christmas presents for. I think I can get everybody else’s when I do the giant Costco run tomorrow morning as soon as they open so I can get the beef tenderloin to make Wellington for dinner on Tuesday, but if there’s anything after that, man, they are all getting gift cards, I don’t care how my mother-in-law frowns upon it.

On the plus side I am wrapped up in a fuzzy blanket in front of my Christmas tree and the boys have been super helpful and we’ll see if anything gets wrapped tomorrow. Or, we may just be stopping at the grocery store and buying a whack of red gift bags.
