Okay, an actual life-catch-up post
As of this past week, the immediate family has gotten all their vaccine shots, \o/. BabyBoy was the last & Oldest & I ended up driving up to his school apartment & bringing him @ his car home b/c he felt like crap & I got my mommy-groove on. So that was nice, having him home for a few days. I made a lot of soups b/c his throat hurt—the hamburger soup I’ve linked previously, basic chicken noodle, a potato-corn chowder that’s 99% potatoes with just a tiny bit of cream for those of us who are lactose-intolerant—but he ducked back out before I could get to the lasagna soup that’s been sitting around waiting for me to find the right noodles (which I fortunately did, at the grocery store, thus avoiding a repeat of the Great Amazon Alphabet Noodle Order of the early pandemic times where I'll be using the box I got for at least a decade.
Anyway. Another week & he’ll be fully juiced & we won’t have to deal with that over Beach Week.
D & I have been making the rounds of doctors—we still haven’t gotten him into physical therapy again but we keep trying. He’s also making slow progress on his own—the difference between him in the car for a few hours in mid-March & a with longer trip this weekend is encouragingly better. We’ve stepped our toes into a social life here, too—brunch outside with old friends, lots of high school baseball games, a Braves game last weekend with D’s brother & wife. We had season tickets for 20+ years but this w@s the first time at the new-new stadium. SO MANY PEOPLE OMG.
Right now, he & I are in Florida for a few days, just chilling on some hotel points that were going to expire in a couple of months. I may have spent a truly ridiculous amount of time going through the Marriott website, looking at every hotel within driving distance (not really ready to deal with flying, both from D’s recovery perspective & from everything else) for the highest redemption value. I think this place had 3 nights in 2 months that I could make work, but here we are, being very fancy. Even the weather is cooperating— it’s almost cool in the shade which is not what you expect for Florida at this time. Pictures on Instagram/Twitter.
I’m doing my best to not think about work (I took slack off my phone, even!), but it’s been crazy busy. The company itself has gone to summer hours & a week off around the Fourth but there’s no word on how release dates will adjust so I’m not sure if it’s a strictly good thing or not. Fingers crossed.
Hoping to be back with stuff I’ve been reading & watching, have a good week!
