some days I have to wonder about my brain
a collection of things that have offered my brain distraction over the last few days:
My friend J was in town and she said, "no, we have to go see Battleship together, we'll see Avengers later," and I was O.o????? but then it started and I said, "wait, wait, nobody told me Alexander Skarsgard was in this," and she nodded very smugly, but I got the last laugh because after the movie was over (and omg, you do not want to know how much cackling was going on, but let's just say that the appearance and swift destruction of K-Bay engendered some serious noise)... after all that, I took her home and handed her my Generation Kill DVDs and said, "here, forget the vampire, go for the real Iceman." We take care of each other, yes, we do.
Words cannot express how much I love that Queen Elizabeth dressed to match the theme of the festivities, and that's before I actually got a good look at the ice pinned to her shoulder, which on anyone else would be no doubt fake, but on her? Yow, check out those rocks!
I missed this for a couple of weeks, but I did finally see it:

I love how this story turned out, and it was a happy time writing it, and I'm super-happy people like it, too. Plus, that's such a nice graphic!
...and okay, I have to go ride shotgun while boys work on their driving skills. ::reaches for xanax::

Fangirls griping over contract law and all in agreement that it made no sense. Can you imagine? I was in the middle of it (ok, I started it), explaining how you can't have your cake and eat it too. The contract is either enforceable and you get the benefit of your bargain or it isn't and you don't. You can't get what you paid for and your money back as well. Duh!!! Don't sell your audience short.
Loved the Fitzosbournes. Any other recs?

I sent you a private message re: books; I don't know if you get those emailed to you, but if you didn't get let me know and I'll email directly. I have one other rec, another WWII YA, Code Name Verity. ::sobs:: Ty says if you're in the mood for a good take on zombies, the Newsflesh trilogy is making him happy.

Jim Beaver responded to me today. LIFE IS GOOD!
Seriously, zombies are good too. Although if it wasn't for Norman Redus, I'd jettison the walking dead for stupidity. Writers suck. Here we are tossed out of our safe haven in the woods where it's dark and scary. We hear a noise. NOW is the time to ponificate as to why you should be the leader of this group. I'm screaming internally--WHAT ABOUT THE NOISE YOU HEARD, YOU IDIOT? Is it obvious I think Rick is a waste of space?

Ha, I finally get twitter now. And Reed likes me. Which doesn't suck. But I shield that from Steve b/c what good could come of that.
The Walking Dead might be good if the writers thought more than one scene ahead. It's sad, but Norman's there and his character is awesome.

We're already taking Paige up in the pasture to practice driving. 13 is the age all the family starts learning in the pasture. It's a thing.

D grew up learning to drive like that, too; mostly what we're working on is dealing with crazy traffic & the 6 lanes of interstate that runs through midtown/downtown. Nerve-wracking!

I'm interested in Battleship solely because I heard Skarsgard and Taylor Kitsch are playing brothers in it. Should I watch it?

I'm not sure I can actually endorse the movie (we had a great time but for reasons having little to do with the plot or reality) but the brothers were definitely one of the better things, as was the character played by a bilateral amputee (who was the true badass of the whole thing.) Also, it was shot in Hawaii, and you know how I feel about that. Maybe a matinee? Or the dollar theater?
