1. They put it to a vote, and except for the one slip of paper written in Buffy's scrawl, it's unanimous: Xander drives the bus at night. Buffy pouts that it's only because of Willow's spell, that it isn't just giving Xander depth perception, but Xander knows it's mostly Little Miss Control Freak going through the motions.

He likes driving through the darkness, the bus quiet except for the occasional snore or murmur. When they're on an old state route, he has to pay close attention, handle the steering wheel gently so that twists and curves won't wake anyone, but when they're on an interstate, he can relax a little and let himself think about a future that suddenly seems possible.

2. Buffy's taste in liquor is definitely of the suck and she doesn't ever see why people care if she gives them Jim Beam instead of Jack Daniels. Even worse, she doesn't give good advice. Not that Xander's especially good at that either, but at least he listens. On the flip side, though, Xander never has to worry about two-bit drunks starting fights when she's around, so they always go on interviews as a team, and he maybe gets more satisfaction out of that than he should.

3. Halloween's pretty much in the bag. Little Red Riding Hood doesn't have jack on Bluebeard.

4. They're all good at basic--okay, advanced--first aid. Giles and Robin can patch up anything short of surgery and broken bones, but somehow, Xander turns out to be the one who can look past the attitude and tell who's hurt worst. None of the girls will admit anything to Buffy or Faith, and even those two are pretty bad with the stiff-upper-lippage. It's a Slayer thing, but really, that doesn't impress Xander nearly as much as it used to.

5. Buffy can't. Xander gets that. She's got enough to deal with just making sure Dawn's okay and getting through the next fight. As long as someone does though, Xander thinks they'll be all right. So he makes it his job to remember everyone they weren't there in time to save, to remember Jesse and Ford, Harmony and Larry. He's pretty sure Cordy and Tara and Anya are covered, but he includes them, too, just to be sure.
