Life, continuing on from last week's craziness:

  • BabyBoy. Seriously, he is going to be the death of me. He's currently in a summer Shakespeare drama camp doing Twelfth Night, but he won't tell us who he was cast as (the last time that happened he had the lead role) only that he is sad because there are no swordfights. Or ninjas (he's working on some League of Legends ninja cosplay for DragonCon. It involves purple dye, killmenow.) He's about to go audition for a play about the Warsaw Ghetto, which, whiplash much? He said something enthusiastic about gun smuggling. (I guess I should just be happy he hasn't asked to go audition for The Walking Dead, because seeing nothing more than publicity stills of that show gives me nightmares.) He is also addicted to Unique Eats on the Cooking Channel and now wants to know whether a restaurant is "indie" or not before he votes on where we're eating. So far, he has graciously made exceptions to his "no chains" philosophy for The Palm and Maggianos (notice how these are not on the same scale as, say, McDonalds, sigh. At least no one can accuse him of having cheap taste.)  I can see this providing vast amounts of entertainment in the coming years.

  • [livejournal.com profile] msktrnanny is the *awesomest*: she went and found me allll the Muppets-as-Star-Wars-characters action figures and trucked them around the park and packed them up and sent them to me and they are to die for. ♥ ♥ (and let me know if you'd rather have a check or paypal.)

  • I'm not sure why seeing 20% of Tom Hardy's face around Bane's mask in The Dark Knight Rises has prompted my brain to go read lots of Eames/Arthur when, y'know, actually seeing Inception didn't, but it has. And I am.

And that's about where my life is now, in between the error message handling and hunting down loan payments and scholarship grants with Oldest. How's everybody else?

Twelfth Night is tons of fun even if there are no swordfights. :D Good luck with the no chains policy!

wait--they're leaving the ninjas out of Twelfth Night? Sacrilege! If only there have been more ninjas in Warsaw Ghetto, European Jewry would have been better off.

(there is no situation that is not improved by ninjas, at least according to the experts at my house. they think that about zombies, too, but I disagree).

He really needs to do Romeo & Juliet so he can at least get some sword fighting in, but he says if Baz Luhrman can do gangs, he doesn't think ninjas should be out of the question.

Pirates are also a big thing around here--there is a gridded-out pirate ship D&D game design scattered all over my dining room currently.

lol! I think you might have a future avant garde director on your hands! you should show him the Kurosawa Macbeth--it has Samurai, at least, and lots of fighting (called Throne of Blood, I think)

Pirates are good. Son #2 will also yell at the screen of any movie/show that's boring him where are the Navy SEALs? Send for the SEALs. Steve McGarrett has ruined him for normal drama.

Once he sees anything by Kurosawa we are doomed. It might as well be Macbeth--at least that has the potential to make his language arts teacher happy, right?

We might watch Modern Warrior a little too much around here, sigh.

And this is the best part of fandom: somebody's always there to say, "Me, too!" I'm definitely enjoying the Inception writers!

Glad they arrived safely! Still contemplating a set of my own. Would you mind sending a check, I have a nasty habit of just spending out my paypal balance on etsy instead of cashing out payments. Thanks!

Wow, this is two months late, but I did send you a check for the Muppet Star Wars toys, right? I think I remember doing it, but my brain is swiss cheese lately. (I suppose I could go look at my canceled check scans, but I just saw I hadn't replied here and thought I'd check...)
