It was 70 yesterday and it's snowing today. So weird, y'all.

What I'm Reading Now
Oh, I'm all over the place this week. Part of the reason is that it's been a hot-bath-to-destress week, which means I'm not reading electronically for an hour or so every night, and part is just that I'm scattered. So, I've got all these going:

To Marry A Prince (Sophie Page) because I'm apparently a glutton for punishment after last week's royal-with-commoner debacle but this one is (so far) much, MUCH better. (Given that I should have stopped reading last week's in the first 10 pages, I realize this isn't saying much, but I'm 100 pages in and I'm still good.) Aside from not having the secret prince thing drag out for long (and for giving a reasonable explanation without info-dumping as to why she doesn't recognize him), I think I'm having the most fun with how Page kind of re-wrote history to come up with a different royal family.

Grave Mercy (Robin LaFever) -- This is still here because I can't quite find a solid block of time reliably enough to get into the culture of the time. So I keep having to flip back and forth and reorient myself and it is very slow going.

The Dark Enquiry (Deanna Raybourn) - My mother is fussing at me to get through this one (the latest Lady Julia/Brisbane Victorian murder mystery) as she wants someone to talk about it with so I added this to the mix. (Given that the last time she fussed at me to catch up with her in the pop culture department was That Thing That Happened halfway through the last season of Downton, I'm a little worried.) So far, I'm enjoying being back in London, but that's about all I can say.

Shards of Honor (Lois McMaster Bujold) - I have no idea how I've not managed to read any of the Vorkosigan Saga yet, especially since Oldest can practically quote them from beginning to end, but there you are. He was home this weekend while I was wandering around looking for an actual book to read during the extended bubble bath sessions; he shoved this at me and told me I'd love Cordelia and I think he's right.

What I Just Finished
The Art of Possibility (Zander and Zander) - I found this kind of inspiring, even if it doesn't particularly break new ground. It's … I don't know, maybe it's that it feels very personal? It's not some hugely complicated system and it's not woo-woo oh-my-feeeeels, but it talks about creativity and removing blocks which are things that we deal with in our house a lot, especially given some of our more challenging emotional issues. I actually started re-reading it as soon as I finished, so it could go in the first section, too.

The Vorkosigan books are long-time favorites of mine. I hope you continue to enjoy them!

I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I haven't read them--so many people I know around here have loved them (plus my own kid.) We'll have to see how I feel when I get to the more Miles-centric books--sometimes the last thing I need in my life is another boychild!

I woke up in the middle of the night freezing because the front blew through and the temperature dropped 40 degrees in a couple of hours. I wasn't very happy.

So far, they're very engaging. We'll see how I fare once I get past the parents and into the Miles books. Sometimes the last thing I want to deal with is yet another boychild!
