life, bullet-listed

\o/ The AA who works with the group I find myself attached to these days did battle with the procurement system on my behalf and now I not only have an extra power supply/cord for my laptop (thus eliminating the near-daily crawl under my desk to plug/unplug as I haul my computer home) but also gifted me with a cordless headset for my phone, which means I don't have to hold the phone with my shoulder 4+ hours/day. Truly: \o/

/o\ It rained so much last week that there were no fireworks involved in our Fourth. (Actually, I think I'm the only person who cared, but still -- no fireworks. sadface.)

\o/ The minions singing I Swear, complete with iconic white suits made me laaaaaaaaugh.

\o/ /o\ \o/ I have been paying attention to lifting weights/stretching/walking the crazy Dalmatian (hah, yes, it is post-Beach Week Detox Week(s)) and have managed to do something every day lately (\o/) but omg, just sitting around hurts (/o\). I am so not that person who says, "yeah, it hurts but I feel good, too." No endorphin rush here, sadly. Just something to check off the list (which, you know, is it's own little rush, but not what I think ppl mean.)

Wednesday Reading

...brought to you this week by some weird confluence of the aether, whereby I got hit with multiple instances of 'what I read is fine, what *you* read perpetuates the patriarchy/denies women their existence'; or Hi, I Read Romance And Slash And Comics And These Are Some Of My Favorites

What I Just Finished
Legend In Green Velvet, Elizabeth Peters -- Still funny, even after 20 years.

Bride of the MacHugh, Jan Cox Speas -- my paperback of this is literally falling apart but it still makes me very happy.

Welcome to Temptation, Jennifer Crusie -- Porn and food and cons. And fun.

I also sorted out my electronic comics (Hawkeye, Captain Marvel, Rescue, Avengers Assemble, and I can't remember what else.) I'll leave the slash to a different post.

What I'm Reading Now
To Say Nothing of the Dog, Connie Willis -- Got put on hold due to the above confluence, which means I'll probably have to start over again, but these things happen sometimes.

What I'm Reading Next
Still have Blackout, also by Willis from the library so that's probably where I'll go next.

multiple instances of 'what I read is fine, what *you* read perpetuates the patriarchy/denies women their existence' well said! I feel that often XD

It's pre-Beach-Week better-get-a-lot-done-week here. going fair to middling, I'd say. We've had rain just about every day, too, but it was miraculously unrainy on the 4th.

Good luck with the getting-stuff-done! I managed to forget my work laptop + the cat ran off the morning we left, so I spent the first couple of days trying to track down someone not on vacation to let her in the house/feed her. (which I did, but there was a lot of carrying my phone in a ziploc baggie while I emailed and called from the pool/beach.)

Me either! And people who claim exercise endorphin rushes make me sneer. I think they're just deluding themselves, seriously. Grrr.

\o/ for Jennifer Crusie! Love her books.

:)

The closest I think I've ever come to an endorphin rush from exercising was managing to have upped my fitness level enough not to want to pass out while getting stuff in and out of condos in Taos Ski Valley (which is at some ridiculous elevation.) (I have had them post-tattoos, and they're a trip, but nothing even close from exercising.)

Crusie makes me laugh so hard sometimes.

Cordless headsets are the BESTEST. My neck was going all horrible from all the calls I was on and trying to type on and just bracing the phone. I did not have an awesome AA next to me though, so I had to go steal mine from someone who was...relocated.

I feel like I have joined the 21st Century!
