(no subject)

Life around here generally resembles a house of cards, and I mostly get by without losing my mind because not everything redlines at the same time, except when they do & then I run around like a crazy woman, see: today. On the plus side, at least it was the AmEx to which I sent a payment for the wrong account (because Platinum customer service means they fixed it without drama) & BabyBoy took the initiative to call & tell me we'd forgotten the PSAT money so I could make a mad dash to get cash before I went to pick him up (sitting in car pool line now & the Lexus in front of me just smacked his bumper into mine to make sure he took every last inch of space, wtf?) & some days are just like this, right?

Fannish/bookish content to come later...

Oooohhh boy, do I sympathize ... Some days just suck; in my case it was all the professional stuff blowing up (literally). I had 250+ e-mails today; my bureau is being laser-targeted for selective "service withdrawal" (a high official of the striking union works in my shop, and knows EXACTLY which files are "hot"); my support staff is engaged in World War III; AND here I am in my 50s, and I STILL get my friggin' period. Oh, and our neighbours informed us that they are starting a major landscaping project (involving grading of their property) next week. Gah.

I think I'm going to blame sunspots. That covers both of us, right?

(and omg, I hear you on the being in the 50s and still not done with the period stuff--or the freaking acne that goes along with it (at least mine.) sigh.

I am in my mid-30s, but I feel like I am going to be done with the period stuff soon, because my mom went through menopause in her late 30s...then again, maybe it had something to do with having her tubes tied. But that is a mess too. Either way, we women can't seem to win!

And I hate Lexus's. Ever since the Cheers episode where Lilith cheated on Frasier (in my mind, never happened..yes, I am crazy, I never denied it) in a Lexus. Also I test-drove a Lexus and hated it because you don't feel any speed in it. I think that's why people who drive them are usually crappy drivers, because it just doesn't feel right.

It does always seem to be something, right? But who knew I was still going to be dealing with acne at this point in my life?!

I was sitting there the car pool lane, in my 1997 Honda minivan, with 198,000 miles, watching this brand new Lexus back up and up and up and thinking, "SERIOUSLY? You're the one in the fifty thousand dollar car--maybe you might want to, I don't know, not bump it into the car behind you? No? Okay, then."
