whinging about fic writing and picking back up with the reading meme
ohhhh, I am so close to finishing this Clint/Coulson Avengers/AOS/Hawkeye crossover--I can see the end, everybody is in place, character growth has happened... I just need to get them to say the magic words and I will be done with it all! SO CLOSE.(I also need to clean my house and finish the laundry, which is seriously cutting into my writing time. RL, sigh.) I've been writing this thing since last NOVEMBER. I actually do like it, but I will be so happy to be done with it!
And then I can maybe think about my Marvel Big Bang and how that might go... I don't know how my brain is going to take thinking about something else, though. You don't want to know how many timelines I have sketched out for the current fic, none of which are going to be especially useful for anything else.
Wednesday reading meme...
What I've just finished
An Assembly Such As This, Pamela Aidan, which is book 1 of Pride & Prejudice from Darcy's POV. I especially liked the peek into male Regency society, as it's not something that Jane explored. I really loved Darcy and Bingley's friendship and I'm waiting with great anticipation for Caroline to (metaphorically) hang herself.
Reading Now
Duty and Desire, book 2 of the P&P trilogy. Darcy and Bingley in exile after the ball, and the story has suddenly taken a turn for the Gothic, which is somewhat unexpected.
Reading Next
Presumably, These Three Remain, which is book 3. I also have the Regency pirate-next-door book, which I swear I am going to finish, another Regency which looks way less cracky, and the one about the Amazonian lost sisterhood (that I will absolutely fill in with Wonder Woman no matter what the authorial intent might have been.) Beach Week is coming in 10 days, so I might actually get some things finished here in a bit.

I always love when there are new books from another perspective. It gives the original a new feeling, even if they are not by the same author.

So many of the Austen-related books are...not good, but these are very entertaining. Looking on Goodreads, the Jane-ites either love it or loathe it, but it's all got that very familiar fandom feel to it, where you look at people's reaction posts to a show or movie and wonder how on earth they were watching the same thing.
