Mundane things for a Monday
(I know, I know, that sounds like the lamest meme ever, but that's about where I am these days)
I am not a make-up person. I'm not. I have my stuff that works and that's it. If I can't put it on my face while I'm at a stoplight on my commute, it doesn't happen. I say all this to try to explain the cold terror that shot through my veins when I found out that Estee Lauder has changed their tinted moisturizer/sunscreen (sobbing wail of despair.) The old stuff worked and didn't make me break out (yes, I still get zits, even at 50+, sigh. Sorry to break that news to those younger, but yeah, you might not grow out of it either.) I guess I'm trying their replacement but I may be back here asking for recs.
I'm moving along on my
marvel_bang but I keep coming across food that fits so perfectly into it and I have to stop and make notes. It's not remotely a food-based story, but I might have to do a round-up post of links and recipes regardless. Some people do playlists/soundtracks for their fic… I househunt for the characters and dream about the food everyone is eating. (I should make that be my AO3 bio.)
I kind of like this time of summer break—we're done with Beach Week and we've celebrated the Fourth… now there's nothing really on the schedule but hot days and maybe some trips to the pool. DragonCon cosplays are proceeding (even if the hotel thing is kind of a mess.) People keep moaning about how the summer's almost over, but there's still a month and that's a lot if you don't let the whiners get you down.
you know, ebay has been around for a really long time, you'd think people would have figured out how to bid effectively now, rather than sit there and run the price up on an auction that still has 6 days left on it. (No, I haven't quite given up on the Dooney & Bourke bag I made myself not buy the last time I was at Disney World. Surely, you're not surprised by this?)
We are supposed to go rafting in a couple of days to celebrate D's birthday… On the one hand, I love the mountains and being out on the river, but on the other hand, ugh, paddling. I don't think I ever saw my post-50s as a time when I'd be doing anything more rigorous than opening another bottle of wine, but here I am…
