2018 Year in Writing Meme

Again with the backdating from 2020 (completist brain, etc, etc)

Previous years: 2017 | 2016 | 2015 | 2014 | 2013 | 2012 | 2011 | 2010 | 2009 | 2008 | 2007 | 2006 | 2005 | 2004

Some Strings Attached === MCU, Clint/Natasha (~9600 words)

one night on the falcon === Solo | Star Wars, Han/Lando (~3100 words)

To The Mouse House We Go === Captain America: Civil War | MCU, gen-ish, Clint/Laura (~27,400 words)

ready for the start of something new === MCU, Darcy/Clint (~12,800 words)

a garden grows around us === MCU, Darcy/Clint (~7900 words)

So, that's almost 60K words, which definitely better than 2017 even if some of these words got written in years past.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you never would've guessed? I feel like I've been waiting my entire life to write Han/Lando and Solo pushed me right over the edge. :D

What's your own favorite story of the year? To the Mouse House We Go, because I finally got a good excuse to write a long, Disney-World-involved fic that made sense. :D

Did you take any writing risks this year? No, this was all very much my normal stuff

My best story of this year: Mouse House is really the only thing with a plot (not that PWPs are not worthy of this, but they were pretty straightforward) and I did have to think about things post CW.

My most popular story of this year: ready for the start of something new -- Smut + Darcyland.

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Some Strings Attached -- it was a little late for the Clintasha wave, but I'm still glad I finished it.

Most fun story to write: Mouse House -- I got to the point where I was posting photos and videos to illustrate the story.

Story with the single sexiest moment: Honestly? The unwritten sex Clint and Laura were having in the bathroom of their Finding Nemo family suite at WDW's Art of Animation hotel. Illicit, married sex while you're trying not to wake the kids is super-hot even before you throw in the OTT animation theme surrounding them. Mouse House

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: See above.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Mouse House made me think through the Barton kids & their relationships to their parents. Given that canon only gives us cut-outs, I think this counts.

Hardest story to write: All of the things that did not get done.

Biggest Disappointment: See above.

Biggest Surprise: Mouse House, again. I threw in the post-CW flashbacks just to break up the travelogue, but then they actually became the story we were resolving.

Most Unintentionally Telling Story: Mouse House, one more time, but only because that whole series is all about how married, settled people do too have lives.

Fic-writing goals for 2019: Keep trying.
