It...has been a week, y'all. D is having stroke-related issues; no one is really sleeping; we did a jaunt to the ER; work has been busy... I don't know, my brain is mush.
I did finally finish the Steve/Darcy fic I've been poking at for the last few months (strictly speaking, it's been in my Drafts folder for years and years, but it started coming together last fall.) It ended up being a smidge over 30K words, so there's yet another Darcy-related novella my brain has presented me with, *g*: baby, won't you swing it with me.
Now I need to go pick another one of my WiPs and see what happens when I keep poking at it.
I'd also like to refine my thoughts on Wandavision after 1.06 (the Halloween ep)
I'm leaning to the X-Men!Pietro is really Mephisto theory (b/c, my god, but he's cruel and Pietro was a chaos-agent not a nasty piece of work), and...what if he (Mephisto) is the one who manipulated Wanda into getting Vision from the SWORD labs because [evil-villain-y reasons having to do with vibranium & the worlds most-advanced AI]. I mean, it wouldn't really even need to be much manipulation: Vis was still in SWORD's labs FIVE YEARS after he died. So, Wanda goes and gets him and then constructs the Hex to keep him safe from Mephisto *and* SWORD. And the only thing she knows about living a normal life, poor baby, are the syndicated American sitcoms she watched in the orphanage so that's what she constructs when she has to go to ground.
(I'm leaning to Mephisto just because of all the 'devil is in the details' kind of quips we've had, but it could be Doom or any of the other Marvel villains from the Sokovian side of things.)
Also, I am totally here for an angry, pissed-off, and very powerful Wanda (but it could just be me projecting my internal fury at this ridiculous predicament we've gotten ourselves into in real life), but it would probably be about time for her to come clean with Vision (even though that's probably going to break her heart all over again.)
I wonder if Darcy already knowing what's going on inside the Hex will make it so she isn't as affected by whatever it is Wanda is doing to keep the illusions (though #2Son says he thinks she's channeling some of Vision's powers b/c he's the one who can remake things, like how she turned everything into a circus as she blew out the Hex...)?
And if the multi-verse didn't exist before this, all the time-loop shenanigans from Endgame sure enough got things going--or possibly just opened up pathways between the 'verses, like Loki's paths between worlds. And OOOOOHHHHHH, what if Mephisto borrowing XM!Pietro is because he *can't* bring people back to life, which is why he needs Wanda...?
tl;dr - I still REALLY REALLY DNW House of M and am spinning All the Alternate Theories; kthanxbye.
...aaaand stopping now before I give myself a hand cramp, :D, have a good evening!

I heard that theory and was really hoping it wasn't true, but having watched Pietro interact with Wanda in the last episode, he really is being cruel and unpleasant with her, so I'm starting to lean towards "villain in disguise" for him, even though I still wish he were actual X-Men!Pietro...

I guess it'll be interesting to see how Pietro develops next episode, if he does...

The crack about how many times Vis could die still seems excessive (and I am still all here for Wanda's reaction.)

Can I tell you how much I loved the Steve/Darcy fic? I'm going to reread from the beginning before I comment, but I really, really enjoyed it.

I'm so happy to hear you liked the Steve/Darcy! It has been such a distraction and comfort to me for these last few months--just enough focus to keep me from doom-scrolling the senatorial run-offs and a happy place to play in.

Re WandaVision: I'm Team Mephisto! Wanda is doing her thing, but has definitely been egged on. And yes, Pietro is the random thread in her carefully woven world, not of her own creation.
Looking forward to seeing Darcy do Physics from inside the Hex, and Monica getting Powers thanks to "molecular cell rewriting" or whatever it is... :D

In the real world, we both got a reasonable amount of sleep last night, which is exciting. We've also started the whirl of new doctors and new meds, so we'll see how that goes, thanks
