made it through another week. also, wow, it's april

Things got a little out of control there for a bit, but they're possibly less chaotic now? At least I've gotten the update window open, which hasn't been an option for weeks now.
Summing up
We (D&I) accepted an offer from his brother (also D) for what was initially supposed to be a long weekend at a condo BrotherD's company owns on a barrier island off the coast of the FL panhandle. Then it turned into half a week. Then, a couple of days in advance, BrotherD called & said the Blue Angels were doing a formal practice run if we wanted to come down another day early. My D was interested (which he hasn't been about much this long dreary winter), and I was already planning on working from there, so we went ahead and drove down. We did get to see the BAs in action, though limited, as the weather sucked. It was good to hang out with various niblings and their kids, and D's parents, but the weather was ughhh the whole time and one of the niblings brought a stomach bug with them that swept through the entire house. VERY UGH.
We managed to get home--6 hours driving when you're not feeling great is no fun, fyi--and mostly recovered in time to go get our 2nd doses of Pfizer. I was fine for the first 18 hours and then I was FLATTENED for another 24. Like, in bed unable to focus on anything but needing something to keep from having horrible dreams and brain spirals. Kid #2 was a genius and found me walkthroughs of Disney World to watch, so picture me huddled in bed with a 102+ fever, clutching my iPad and mumbling things like "oh, look, it's the Haunted Mansion, yay, but where are the ghosts?" I don't think I was totally over the stomach flu either--no fever when I got the shot, obvs, but I had like a mini-relapse somewhere in the reaction to the vaccine. Mostly better now, finally, after a week.
Work continues to be both good and utterly maddening. Being remote helps with the latter, a lot. But there are still too many meetings to attend as senior leadership continues to try to dig their way out of the mess and those are emotionally exhausting even at a remove. On the super-plus side, I got a mini-promotion, like halfway to the next level that I'm actually working toward (and hope to be at by Aug of this year), which was a significant extra chunk of money. Given that D is at 40% of his previous salary, this is good.
BabyBoy was home for a little while during my delerium as we'd just managed to get his truck to the dealership after his battery died. They, of course, found a ton of other things to be fixed, but since no one had really done anything much with that vehicle since D's stroke (nearly 2 years ago now, ack) it wasn't really all that bad averaged out over time. He currently is not in classes but is making a living with League of Legends, which is killing his father and paternal extended family. On my side, I'm ¯_(ツ)_/¯ and my brother thinks it's great. As long as I'm not needing to pay for therapy, I'm good, I think.
They're promising me rain for this afternoon, which would be lovely as the pollen is at headache-inducing levels.
In marginally fannish related news, I had one of those days where I halfway remembered a fic I'd read that I'd liked, but hadn't actually managed to bookmark. You know how it goes. In a fit of the stubborns, I went back through 26 pages of my AO3 history, but I found it, gdi. I also somewhat prudently bookmarked everything else I saw that I remembered fondly, so I should probably get back on sharing those with y'all. At the very least, have the one that started me on the whole ridiculous quest:

tackytiger, Harry Potter, Harry/Draco, ~61,300 words, Explicit === post-Deathly Hallows, ignoring the canon epilogue, slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers, everyone is very stubborn and slowly finding their way. I'm really not the audience for the music references, but obviously, the rest of it stuck with me long enough and strongly enough for me to hunt it down in my history.

Sorry, you've been so ill, though. I hope you feel much better now.

I do feel better, finally, though all of last week was kind of a drag. And I hope you're doing okay after your second shot!

I'm doing fine, thankfully I only seem to get fatigued as a side effect, and I can cope with that for a day or so.

The vaccination still doesn't seem real (and I live in one of the we-really-didn't-handle-this-well states) but I am contemplating getting my first haircut in a year and possibly having brunch on a patio in my near future. It's half-exciting/half-scary!

The promotion was a lovely surprise--and it came with an appreciable salary increase (which makes me think I let them lowball me to start, but I was running all the numbers during the interview process and was okay with the offer and I wouldn't have survived the madness of 2020 at my previous company, but I'm happy enough to take it now.)
I might finally get my hair cut! It's been 15 months and it's halfway to my waist, so I might just have her deal with the split ends and shape it a bit--I kinda want to see how long I can get it before I turn that significant age divisible by 10.
