checking in
Hellooooo!
I'd say I don't know how it's already July, but I know why June zoomed by and it's all about work. We're closed this week for a summer break and we've been doing half-days on Fridays, which is lovely, but I don't know how much readjustment planning went into making things happen in that shorter amount of time so every day has just been all about frantically cramming things in. Plus, we're finally getting to hire more people so we're hitting that hard, before something changes there and I'm spending hours and hours preparing for, participating in, and summarizing interviews, which is not going to end any time soon.
But, I have closed my laptop & am dealing with things I've been ignoring around the house this week (my garage! I can walk across it! Still can't get a car in it, but I can get to everything still stored in it. My refrigerator! Has been emptied & taken apart & put back together clean! Very exciting.)
And next week is Beach Week, which is so close I can almost taste it, but of course, my dog-sitter has had to cancel & we can't board the Berserker!Dog so I'm scrambling to find someone free for next week and making up the shopping lists and doing laundry and cleaning out the fridge and all of that kind of stuff, so the concept of sitting on the sand and watching waves is sort of a mirage at the moment.
uhhhm, in fannish things, I finally started watching the second season of The Mandolorian (yes, way behind, I know, but I had to (according to the kids) finish off watching Rebels and selected episodes of TCW to properly appreciate this season, which took A While) and then cracked everyone up when I hit Pause 2 minutes in and yelled (via text/snapchat/etc) at my twenty-somethings enablers (my kids & their D&D group, mainly) IS THAT TIMOTHY OLYPHANT WEARING BOBA FETT'S ARMOUR??!1?!, which of course it was, but they were much amused that I got it from the voice alone. (I live to entertain them all, of course.)
Also fannishly-speaking, I've been cranking (well, that implies I'm cruising through, which isn't really true, but let's say somewhere between plodding and cranking) on the Darcy/Bucky post-Wandavision/mid-TFATWS slow burn my brain has been insisting on writing despite all the *other* things it has laying around half-finished. I'm posting this one as I go & I'm trying not to spam you here on DW, but I hit 10K words posted, which is a nice, round number, so I thought I'd mention it, mostly because it's where allllll my spare time is going: waiting in the eye of the storm.

Also, I apparently never actually commented on your most recent post, but part of the adulting portion of my break was to get the card I've had for you for ages stamped and INTO A MAILBOX, so there are belated birthday wishes coming from the South. And your beach pictures look heavenly; I will attempt to take some of my own beach to share, too.
Hi, hi! Apparently, I had a comment form open on your most recent post, but never got around to submitting it, so this is going to be a 2-for-1 deal, *g*.

I hope you can get the dog sitting sorted.
