Y'all! Yesterday was Star Trek Day but we'd had an awful night before so I'm only now getting to the videos/livestreams and of course I had to come scream with you about Strange New Worlds, with my beloved Captain Pike--except that while I'm crazy impatient to have more of him on my TV, my real excitement is that Number One FINALLY GOT A NAME. I mean, it's only been 50 years and at least a dozen tie-in properties, but YAY, A NAME! (Commander Una Chin-Riley--I'm sure I'll have thoughts about that, but for now, it's enough that she has an actual name--and it's not Eunice (which is a whole *other* half-assed, sexist story, yes, I did a lot of digging around tie-ins back in the day) but that they kinda went with that thought.)
So, the intro video for SNW is here: Strange New Worlds Casting Announcements, which is pretty short but has some spoilers about characters from TOS who might/might not be showing up in the new show if that's something you'd rather see as it unfolds.
Now, the question is: do I go in and update the name I used for Number One in my previous Trek fics? (There was one comic from the 80s that kinda-sorta gave her the surname of Robbins, so I'd tended to use that, but now she actually has a name, yay!) Also, omg, how much easier is writing about her going to be now that I'm not trying to come up with non-awkward variations on "Number One". I might even be able to write from her POV, yay.

I don't think there's a need to update old fics. People would realize the canon is shifting and changing anyway. Just my opinion ;)
