After a week of my brain going on strike (seriously, trying to decide what to make for dinner was like détente and when I went to do the Wednesday book meme, I realized I'd read the same 5 pages every day for a week), I am possibly climbing out of the abyss (it wasn't a bad week, just one where I couldn't ever seem to finish anything and my brain kept going around and around and around.)

#2Son & I ended up watching CA: TWS on Saturday (#4 for me, #1 for him), which was all kinds of fun, as he is currently tearing through my Marvel Unlimited subscription and has actually read all the related story arcs.

I don't know how I missed this, but I only just realized that Sharon is on the phone with her aunt when we first meet her. I don't think I saw anything else new, but I had to laugh at D's reaction to everyone crowding onto the elevator with Steve "get off, get off, get off…. Or…[watches mayhem] not." I think it's the most engaged I've ever seen him during a superhero movie (it is so not his thing.)

#2 was in geek heaven—pausing a couple of times to be very (vocally!) happy with how menacingly they shot the Winter Soldier, and how much like an awesome hero they shot Falcon-- which makes me so freaking happy, you don't even know. It's always good to get him out of his head and away from all the swirls of anxiety, and while I still think $10/month for Marvel Unlimited is about $8/month more than I want to pay, it is a hell of a lot cheaper than any of the prescriptions we've tried over the years. If that works as a safe place to engage his brain, Marvel can have my credit card number in perpetuity.

Other fannish things from the weekend include a rewatch of LOTR, for the gazillionth time. It is BabyBoy's go-to, hard-core comfort movie and since he was throwing up half the weekend, he got custody of the HDTV and much time was spent frolicking in Middle Earth. (Ok, I mated socks for a lot of that time, so 'frolicking' is maybe a little too generous, but he was happy.) And I finally got around to watching Saving Mr. Banks (as [livejournal.com profile] destina reminds me, Disney is too a fandom) which I didn't love, but I also didn't hate. It might take me a while to recover from Bradley Whitford singing and dancing, but that's just my residual Josh Lyman issues talking.

I still don't know what I'm watching on TV this fall, but since I haven't finished up what I was watching last spring, I don't guess it'll be a big deal if I take my time, yeah?

I'm only now digging out from that brain--I have no idea what hit me, but ugh, I've been totally unable to concentrate on anything for weeks now. I hope it's gotten better with you, too.
