spending money, kitchen edition

Zipping in to say that if you've been toying with the idea of sous vide (but aren't sure you want yet another overpriced kitchen gadget), Amazon has the Anova for $99 today with code ANOVAONE. This is anywhere from $80-$100 off what's already the most reasonably priced immersion circulator (seriously, they can easily run $800-$1000.)

If you're squinting at your screen, saying words to the effect of omg, what is she babbling on about NOW?, I will point you to [personal profile] synecdochic's excellent primer on the subject and yes, this is the same brand she's talking about using.

eta: the Amazon offer is gone, but there's an offer for an upgraded model that's still good. See http://topaz119.dreamwidth.org/94654.html?thread=188862#cmt188862

I saw the same thing on deals.woot - someone also mentioned that "Anova Precision Cooker (newest) for 129.00 with code LUVDAD on their website".

Maybe I did something wrong, but Amazon gave me expired every way I tried. The $50 off at the actual site worked fine, however, so I'm really excited :)

It seems pretty interesting and it's a good price for something that's super-pricey at the restaurant-level.
