random sunday things while I avoid mating socks

  • The Bronson Pinchot Project is turning out to be the equivalent of visual and aural Xanax for me. I sit and watch him and Mikey go salvaging and restoring and I can feel my blood pressure easing off.

  • [livejournal.com profile] ohana_favorites is hosting a favorite fic ... competition? Some lovely people nominated a few of my Hawaii Five-0 stories, which is pretty awesome, but the best part is that it's like a list of awesome fic to go through. Some familiar names, some new to me, all a nice distraction from the rest of life.

  • The House of Boys is in the preliminary stages of laying out the summer movie season (this entails much negotiation, as none of us like to go to movies alone, but everybody has their own preferences, so everybody gets one preemptive WE ARE DOING THIS ONE which everyone else makes every effort to be there for. The real trick, of course, is in the negotiations of who will call what, so that no two people waste their one pick on the same movie. Yes, dinners are weird in our house.) Obviously, *my* preemptive strike is The Avengers, but Oldest is right behind me this year with Prometheus, due almost entirely to Guy Pearce and this faux TED talk.

Based on this trailer, I might have to take a valium before I go, but it still looks amazing.

  • I'm trying to decide between this sweater or this dress, as I have been patiently waiting for the coupon that hit my inbox on Friday. I adore Sundance, but omgPRICEY. Still, everything I've ever bought from them, I still wear, so I buy on sale and rationalize it that way.

I can't tell you the last time I fell in love with a dress. Or, I couldn't have told you until now, because this dress wins all the prizes.

    Just wow.

Okay, (1) LOVE the sweater, and (2) I may have to buy my dress for my one-woman-show reception in B-ville from these people! So many adorable things!

I vote for the sweater, you can wear it more :)

I know--I was all set for the sweater. It's totally my style, I have the t-shirt and jeans and boots to wear with it, but then I saw that dress and... I'm still wavering.

Definitely the cardie, it's more original and really flows nicely!

And that Prometheus trailer seems to condense most of the film in 2'20, which is a bit of a shame... Still, it looks kind of promising, if a little scary (hmm, valium. good idea). And it features Michael Fassbender, which appears to have become compulsory in all films produced in the last 12 months or so.

The sweater was my original thought, and I've been waiting for a month for a promo code to come out for Sundance (they do not send them out often and with those prices, every little bit helps) but then I saw the dress and stared dithering...

There's another Prometheus trailer out, that's possibly just as jam-packed but with different scenes which kind of blows my mind. Clearly, A Lot of Shit will be happening. And the cast! holy cow--not just Fassbender, but Idris Elba and Guy Pearce and Charlize Theron... Definitely looking forward to it!

Adding my vote to the cardigan--it looks pretty and useful!

It's looking like an excellent movie summer--add in The Bourne Legacy too (for Renner-philes)

I went ahead and got the sweater, though it's so warm here it feels like I'm buying it for next year.

Definitely the Bourne Legacy, and Snow White and the Huntsman for Chris Hemsworth. And the Dark Knight, too.
