(no subject)

hi, hello, it's been a while--I am defaulting to the ever-popular bullet list in an effort to get *something* posted:

  • Today is the last day to sign up for the [livejournal.com profile] be_compromised AU Challenge, which I caved & did, no matter that I have at least dozen things in flight. What's one more, right? And I do like a good AU, so.

  • Did I mention here that I added a timestamp/epilogue to Strawberry Laundry Blues? I don't think I did, so if you don't subscribe to my AO3 account, there is a little bit more fluffy Darcy/Clint.

  • I need to do a book update, because I actually have been reading lately (\o/), but that will have to be later, as I am in the middle of one of those triple-booked afternoons (I'm at the pediatrician's office now, for vaccination updates on kids), but I did finish Station Eleven and found myself liking it quite a bit. (Aren't you proud--it was only published last year! I am almost not behind the reading curve on it!)

  • We headed out to watch Fury Road, but then couldn't quite psych ourselves up for the post-apocalyptic craziness, and so saw Tomorrowland, which... eh? It felt like one of the movies I would have taken the boys to see when they were little, where they would have had a good time & I wouldn't have hated it? And hey, it was time spent with a kid, so that was good. Otherwise, I have to say: netflix. For sure.

  • My Anova sous-vide circulator came, but was the wrong voltage/adapter (Australian 220V? How did I even order that?) but they were awesome and sent me a return label and the new one is on the way, so I will update shortly.

  • 15 days until Beach Week, omg, I neeeeeed it this year. I am filling Prime Pantry boxes as we speak.

    More later? yes.

Nearly Beach Week already. Man, this year is flying by.

Station Eleven! That book really sucked me in and then stayed with me after I finished it.

It did stay with me, too -- I wish there had been more about the Traveling Symphony (I wanted to know more about the conductor, especially) but I always go off and want to know the stories behind the story, so that's not a big surprise.

Hi hello! *waves* I am always very happy to see a post from you. :) Also good to know I don't need to waste money on Tomorrowland. It looked meh to me, so now I know for sure.

I loved that the hero saving the world was a girl who loved science/engineering (actual circuit boards and all) but yeah, meh.

We got excited about Tomorrowland when we saw the trailer before AoU for the first time - around the third time (ahem) though, the cracks were showing. Friday night Netflix or "on demand" it is!

I'm looking forward to our version of Beach Week - a fortnight spent in Ontario wine country, with two sandy beaches within easy driving distance (10 and 25 minutes, respectively), and all the wine we care to drink in the evenings. Yay!

Like I told destina, I hate to be not-enthusiastic about a movie where the world-saving hero is a girl (who likes/is good at science, even) but yeah, it really wasn't worth a theater ticket price.

oh, yes, I'm looking forward to the pictures from Vineyard Week (? Wine Week is a little indescriptive, as we could call Beach Week that, too...)

    Hi! Yay for Beach Week!
