ugh, got hit by the summer cold bus

I spent the weekend staggering around, unpacking in pathetic little bursts and trying to finish off my [community profile] femmeremix story.

Neither one was probably a good idea, as there are now stacks of clothes and beach-related crap everywhere, and I'm afraid to open the file with my remix in it.

I'd probably be further ahead if I'd just stayed in bed all weekend, but try telling my brain that in the middle of a fever.

On the plus side, my lack of cooking mojo has resulted in BabyBoy & I living off of him making avocado-tomato toast, which is very nice. There are worse things a teenage boy could be fixing for his sad, sick mom. I have no idea what the rest of the house is eating, but they appear to be fine, so I'm not asking.

Circling back to the remix: is it bad form to extend my remix past the end of the original story? I kinda want to write the sex scene that is clearly on the way, but the original ended with a kiss. Is that rude/Not Done? (My assigned writer has written lots of explicit stories, so I don't think she has a problem with it as such, but I happened to pick one that's PG-rated to remix. And it's definitely the one I wanted to work with, I just feel like a lot could be said about the characters if I get them into bed (or against the wall, etc))

...and, okay, this has taxed my fever-addled brain to its limit, so I am off to take more ibuprofen and drink more tea...

Anytime is a good time to talk about remixes. I'm fascinated by the concept, the forms they take, the social/etiquette questions that arise, and their execution. Only in fandom.

Yes! It's another of those topics that we talk about endlessly, and then later, somewhere down the line, I find the "RL" equivalent and realize that yes, once again, my fandom life has moved me ahead of the curve everywhere else, too.
