Tyler's just the little brother but that doesn't mean he's blind.

Dude. *exhales* Duuuuuuuude. Firstly, the use of Josh is totally understood and I think it's entirely appropriate and not at all dreaded.

Secondly - you know, I've been weaving circles around this one. I bookmarked the entry and the story, and I used to like Ricky Martin once upon a long time ago but I was rather scared to read this one because my Latin music obsession was a couple of years before my slash and I just didn't think I could handle it. Well, I was wrong.

Because wow. I love the dynamic between JC and Tyler, their working relationship; that Tyler cares, and is so protective of JC, grudgingly coming to terms with the relationship but making them work for it, for his acceptance and approval. I love how he doesn't understand but is willing to accept JC's assurances that he wants it, that they're playing it safe. He doesn't approve but he trusts JC.

"You're not being funny, Enrique." Josh glares until the game goes to commercial and he bounces up. "Two minutes, Kiki. Two."

This totally made me giggle because there was a time when it did NOT take me a moment to clue in and connect the dots. But um. Hee! I love how JC is such a BOY about his game; nothing distracts him, nothing can pull him away from it.

Bottom line is that this was something very different and something very good.

You have 'JC' in a couple of places in the story and I'm wondering - was that on purpose? With AJ, his mom always distinguished between Alex, her kid, and AJ, the stage persona. With JC, I suspect it's something very similar, as if 'JC' is his stage name, his celebrity facade, whereas people in real life know him as 'Josh,' and the two places you call him JC he's either yelling at Tyler in an argument or telling Tyler that he wouldn't ever understand. And it's so easy to see those instances as moments where Tyler doesn't see his brother but instead, this facade of a celebrity who he hasn't a prayer to decipher - there's so much distance - light years - between them.

Hey, thanks! I'm really glad it worked for you, especially since you were so unsure to begin with. I told you it was a different one!

I love the dynamic between JC and Tyler

They had such strong voices in my head--for a long time, nobody else got through. And the end--that took months to find (and then it was so simple, but that's how it goes sometimes.)

I wish I could tell you that the JC's were intentional (well, except for the other characters), but we all had problems "seeing" those--me, the betas, everyone.

Thanks so much for the comment--and for the challenge.
