it was a very Disney weekend...

...and then it was Monday and cold and raining and there was work and school and it was Tuesday and I had an all-day training class. But now I'm home and in my pajamas and trying to decide if I am motivated enough to go get some wood for a fire to brighten up the rest of the day...

Last year, BabyBoy described our Food & Wine Festival-ing as, "They had really good beef in Canada, but then we walked around to Mexico and Bad Decisions Were Made," which has become our anthem for this trip. This year, we had villas at the Beach Club, so it made much more sense to go in the back gate of Epcot and start the eating and drinking in France, which worked out much better, even with the frozen "Italian Margheritas" (which were grappa and limoncello and I don't even know what else.) I think BabyBoy and one of L's boys hit every single booth except the vegan booth, which they considered, but then decided that there was still Canada's beef to be had, so they would pass on the cashew cheese, etc. We managed *not* to drink our body weight in tequila when we got to Mexico, yay us, but doubled up on the pomegranate Kir and rose champagne. Oh, and we only had one Singapore Sling for all of us, instead of one each like last year. (And as bad as that was, it didn't even touch the year before where we did this all day and then went and had an 8-course dinner w/matching wines at the California Grill. I am not kidding when I say I eat salad twice a day for the month before and after this trip.)

There was also a pre-F&W dinner at bluezoo, where I dumped a glass of ice water on L (it was okay; she accidentally threw a wine glass at me the next night) and then there was tuna tartare with a sriracha mayo frozen into granules with liquid nitrogen and sprinkled on top. The rest of the night is a little fuzzy as we ended with grappa (whose superpower is memory erasing.) The wine-glass-throwing incident happened post-F&W, at an Italian restaurant, where there was also grappa. (That also counts as a bad decision, just in case you were playing along at home.) In between, there were v. v. lovely cabana boys at the pool who fetched us many sangrias and bloody marys and black-cherry-vodka-lemonades. (And virgin frozen daiquiris for the kids.)

Fortunately, we could (and did) walk to all of this excess. (Also fortunately, the pool bar did not have a bottle of grappa and we retained enough sense to stop them from sending someone inside to get one.)

We did do some mountain-riding (Everest and Space and Splash, but I still haven't seen the new queue at Big Thunder) and BabyBoy indulged me and walked around looking at the themeing in new Fantasyland without whining, so there was a little of the traditional pixie dust in there, too.

Tomorrow, I will have recs and other fannish content, but for now I think I am going to go hide under the covers and pretend like I don't still have to clean out my inbox. Ciao, bellas!

That sounds like a fantastic time! :D

Yay for Canadian beef! :-) Sounds like you had fun. I'm gaining weight here just reading about all the stuff you ingested ...

PS: I went back into "Second Mouse" and gave you proper credit for early cheerleading, which I shamefacedly admit I forgot to do in my haste to get the thing posted. :-)

It wasn't so much the eating as the drinking--it's bad when you don't even have to walk 10 steps to get another sangria!

As for Second Mouse, no worries and thank you for letting me read it early on--it was very entertaining as I was pulling my hair out over my own story!

Holy cow! You actually did eat and drink all the things! You make me regret how hot and miserable I was at the F&W festival the year we all went together.

I'm glad you got a break and had a good time. Thanks for sharing!

Oh, the weather was *awesome* this past weekend--low 80s, no humidity, clear and sunny. It was perfect for walking around and seeing how many things we could eat.

So is this an annual vacation for you guys? Because I will be joining you in your villa next year. Hope you don't mind.

We've done it with this group for 3 years now, and I've done it a couple of other times with friends from LJ -- doing it with this group is fairly OTT just because it's always crazed when we get together. I have to say that there is a strong possibility that we wouldn't even notice if you tucked yourself away in one of the villas. We're usually doing well if we manage to keep track of the underage kids--an extra adult could easily slide right on in.
