D had to have a covid test (so he can go see the pulmonologist on Friday to see if there's any reason why he's still not breathing right) and the hospital system his doctor is affiliated with has a mass testing/inoculation site set up in an abandoned Sears auto building next to a shuttered mall. It was all very efficient and smooth--we never had to get out of the car, just drove right through--but just saying where they're set up is freaky and actually driving through the process, with everyone in full, head-to-toe PPE was like being in some documentary, which I suppose we kind of are. (He's had multiple previous tests, but they were set up in a clinic so it was less of a disconnect.)

In other pandemic news, D's brother tested positive last week, which brings the number of cases in his immediate family to 7 (this does not count the distant, but near-by, elderly cousins who were diagnosed early in April, one of whom did not survive.) Welcome to the red states.

In less depressing news, my team shares a random link or fact or observation when we do our status posts, and this morning I shared a link to a spotify playlist of the music NASA used to wake up the Mars rover + a listing of what day each song was used and why. It made my nerdy engineering heart happy so I thought I'd share here, too.

He seems to be coming through okay, at least in the initial stages. Thankfully, my m-i-l & f-i-l have received their first vaccine shots, so I can stop worrying quite so much about them being exposed.

Here's hoping the pulmonologist appt goes well! I know Covid is still messing with me 9 months later, so I hope D. doesn't have it.

I really do think he had a mild case of Covid in the spring, one that didn't trigger any of the tests by the time we could actually get one, but we want to make sure there's not something else going on. I don't know which answer I'm actually hoping for: yes, this is the aftermath of Covid or no Covid but some other, yet to be specified thing to deal with.

When I got tested it was like you described, a very freaky situation, especially as the test site is in a carpark in my town. So seeing somewhere so familiar overrun like that was just weird.

Well, the good news is that his lungs look fine (which really is good!) but the bad news is we still don't know what's going on, sigh. Thanks for the good wishes!

You're welcome! His lungs look good (as does his heart), so he doesn't feel like he's risking much by pushing things, so we'll continue to see if we can narrow all this down.
