daily december #14 - temptations
What temptation have I successfully resisted? (for
matchboximpala)I
I think this is less of a successfully resisted temptation, but more of one that I'm in the process of resisting, with varying levels of success: comparing myself/my family to some mythical benchmark and never being satisfied (ie, keeping up with the Jones, but not just materially.) It's so tempting and easy to fall into that trap, and the entire first half of my life was made up of school and socializing that did nothing but encourage that way of thinking as a way of defining success. It's super hard not to do it, but whenever I manage it, life is much richer and more 'me'.
On a more frivolous note, I, uh, haven't given in and dyed the gray out of my hair -- it's a shock to look in the mirror and see all the gray/silver/white, but my hair grows so freaking fast I'd be spending a fortune touching up the roots/recovering with the semi-permanent. If I end up in the job market, though, all bets are off.
