spn_j2_bigbang. Thanks to Lana, who didn't freak out when she ended up with what was essentially half a story to start working on her art;
withdiamonds, who wouldn't let me freak out when I had essentially half a story a month from when I needed to post; and
without_me, who did all the heavy lifting on beta and editing literally one step behind me this week.
Summary: Texas in July is not exactly where Jensen Ackles has any desire to be, but a job's a job and interviewing Jared Padalecki, the most famous and successful winner of America's Next Celebrity Chef for Saveur magazine isn't something Jensen's going to turn down. He'll do the interview, try not to laugh, and get back on the plane. Jared isn't any happier at the thought of yet another interview with someone who's already made up his mind that Jared's nothing but a pretty face, but the network insists, so fine. He'll do the interview, practice his patience, and be done with it.
Funny how things don't quite work out that way.

And as someone with a S.O. who also cooks from The French Laundry Cookbook, I must say I was impressed with your foodie references :D

"That's not tea," Katie says, making a face. "That's sugar syrup tinted brown."
"Welcome to the South, California Girl," Jared says and swallows half the glass, smirking at her while she shudders. <<
I was just giggling away at this. I lived in the South for the first 33 years of my life and I think it's a crime restaurants don't serve Sweet Tea up here in Maine. You cannot get the mixture right by adding the sugar to a glass of unsweetened iced tea! The four years I lived in Alabama were the best because when you ordered tea, that's what they served you -- you had to ask for unsweetened tea if you wanted it and people looked at you like you were an alien.
What a great detail! Now I'm going downstairs to get a glass of Sweet Tea and hurry back to finish reading. :) *snicker*

I hope you like the rest of the story!

It's so funny you say that about your mother-in-law. Even though I grew up in the South, my father was a transplanted Yankee and my mother was an Army brat. We never had sweet tea in the house when I was growing up and I couldn't stand the unsweetened tea my mother kept on hand. I loved my college roommate when I moved to Alabama simply because she had this extra giant pitcher that was always full of sweet tea. LOL
I had to drive through McDonald's today to get a sweet tea because they're the only place up here that has sweet tea made right. The girl who works there told me they use a whole bag of sugar every time they make it. Now, I have a Kubrick that makes both hot and iced single serve coffee and tea just so I can have sweet tea all year round. :D

When I make tea for my husband, I swear, there's almost as much sugar as water, but that's only way he'll drink it.
