books/favorites

I'm running behind this week, so
What I'm Reading Now
Daughter of the Game, Tracy Grant, which is less of a Regency romance and more of a romance set in the Regency, one that addresses the Napoleonic Wars and the attendant ugliness. Richard Sharpe and Teresa Moreno could walk into this novel and I wouldn't blink, all of which to say that I'm enjoying it v. v. much.

Understanding Comics, Scott McCloud -- reading along with BabyBoy, as part of the OMG-you-may-not-spend-the-entire-summer-in-front-of-a-screen initiative. I've read parts of this before, with the other boys but I'm paying better attention this time.

What I've Just Finished
Nothing, sigh. Being the Disney tour guide and making sure my parents didn't get heat stroke during the day and running hard to the big attractions with the boys by night left me zero time to do anything but crash hard and wake up to start it all over again and then come home and do laundry and stage Beach Week.

What I'm Reading Next
It's Beach Week: my list runneth over. Physical books include: A Spear of Summer Grass, Deanna Raybourn; The Ashford Affair, Lauren Willig; Blackout and All Clear, Connie Willis; whatever Vorkosigan book Oldest wants me to read next. Then we can start in on the eReader and I think first up there is the nun assassins that I've been trying to dedicate some unbroken reading time, too. Then, jeez, there are dozens. We'll see what I'm in the mood for. ::crosses fingers::

she blinded me with political science by [archiveofourown.org profile] thingswithteeth, Avengers | MCU, Darcy Lewis/Bruce Banner, ~61,800 words, Mature === This is nice and long and sets things up so that I can totally buy this account of how Darcy ends up dealing with the Avengers PR needs.

lifehack by [archiveofourown.org profile] edibleflowers, Avengers | MCU, Natasha Romanoff/Clint Barton, ~17,900 words, Mature === Very nice take on Hawkeye making the different call and how it might have gone after that, both good and bad and tying in with Natasha's "you know that I have," from the movie.
