it's been a long time
I have more (all my old Iron Man links that I never wrote up), but I've been coding this for days, and I'm tired of it. I hope you find something you enjoy, even if it's just something you can re-read, and I seriously doubt I managed actual fb or kudos on everything, so I'll issue a blanket Thank you; I loved it to all the writers, artists, and vidders. *mwhah* Your creativity makes my life a happier place.
Terribly Domestic, by
perspi, Hawaii Five-0, Danny/Chin, Rish, ~2900 words === There is not enough Chin/Danny out there (well, there's not enough Chin, period, but that's another post.) This is utterly perfect, though. Perfect. Even if you don't think you ship Chin and Danny, this one might win you over.
Pukana La (Sunrise), by
celli, Hawaii Five-0, Kono/Jenna, PG-13, ~1100 words === Spoilers through 2.02. Jenna invites, Kono goes; and when things are bad, there's always a sunrise over water. Jossed now, I think (I'm still not caught up, sorry) but that doesn't make it feel any less true.
Golden Retrievals, by
kass, Hawaii Five-0, Steve/Danny, PG, vid === A spoken word vid to Mark Doty's poem. Please believe me when I say this is awesome, and that I say it as an engineer who doesn't *do* poems.
‘Ekahi, ‘Elua, ‘Ekolu, by
elise_509, Hawaii Five-0, Steve/Catherine/Danny, NC-17, ~4700 words === Catherine Rollins is perhaps the first canon character I've seen who doesn't lose herself if you write her as a conduit. How did I not rec this last year when it was posted?
A Close Shave, by
thegrrrl2002, Hawaii Five-0, Steve/Danny, PG-13, ~1650 words === The morning after the undercover op the night before and there's a lot of not-talking-about it going on, in that special Steve/Danny way.
like you owe me money, by
tailoredshirt, Hawaii Five-0, Steve/Catherine, and Danny, Rish, ~2100 words === Danny is perfectly aware that Steve and Catherine are fucking like bunnies while they're in Mumbai, but they're still his friends and thus should be happy to assist in his time of need. You know this is approximately how it would go down.
This Woman's Work, by
somehowunbroken, art by
1orelei, Hawaii Five-0, gen, PG-13, ~11,000 words === Rachel does what she has to, and this makes it perfectly clear how little choice she has. You really don't know how much I want this to be the real reason behind Rachel's actions.
Winter, by
destina, art by
culper355, Supernatural, Sam/Dean, R, ~ 23,700 words === I always find myself sinking down into
destina's writing, almost becoming part of the story, and this one is no different. Set in S3, and then AU, Sam takes Dean to a safe place and doesn't shy away from either the memories or the implications of what it's going to take to save Dean now.
The Piper, by
gretazreta, art by
sagetan, Supernatural, Sam/Dean, R, ~44,500 words === Post S6, and Sam and Dean are settled in a small town, but things aren't right with Sam. This was effectively creepy even before the rats showed up and then I found myself tucked up in a ball so tight (to keep all parts of me off the floor) I couldn't feel my feet. Brava, and ewwwww, in all the best senses of the word. Also, omg, I ♥ Sam and Dean, especially when they're damaged and maybe a little fragile but not backing down from anything, but you knew this already.
Siren Song, by
killa, art by
marciaelena, Supernatural, Dean/OFC, Sam/Dean, Sam/Dean/OFC, Explicit, ~71,900 words === This is the sequel to one of my favorite SPN fics ever and I was so happy when it was posted. It's a very delicate thing, to add someone else to the Sam/Dean dynamic, whether it's actual wincest or not, and this didn't let me down, not at all, and that's even happier-making.
Relax, I Know What I'm Doing, by
robanybody, Thor movie-verse, Jane/Thor Rish, ~1400 words === Darcy's got it all figured out; Jane just needs to listen to her. I'd say it was crack, but if you saw the movie, you can see this happening. :D
It's Electrifying and The Heart Is My Least Vulnerable Spot, by
waketosleep, The Avengers (movie-verse), Darcy/Clint, PG-13, ~8800 words (total) === This is the most-fun fan-invented pairing ever. Basically, Darcy has a taser and isn't afraid of using it (which you know if you saw Thor and if you didn't, you can take my word on it) and Clint (code name Hawkeye) doesn't seem to be entirely put out about it. There are pancakes, too, not just tasering events (in case you were worried.)
Can't Go Back The Same Way You Came, by
pell, Thor, gen, ~20,100 words === Loki makes it right. Post-movie, no relation to the the Avengers trailer that's out.
A Wild, Clear Call, by
marinarusalka, Iron Man movie-verse, Tony/Pepper, PG-13, ~7000 words === Tony has an... interesting family heritage, shit happens, Pepper deals. Have I mentioned lately how much I love Pepper?
you and your high top sneakers and your sailor tattoos, by
musesfool, Avengers movie-verse, Steve/Darcy, Adult, ~5900 words === I will quote victoria's summary: In which Darcy punches Captain America's v-card. Yeah, she can't believe it either. The only thing I have to say is that Cap should be so lucky in canon, because Darcy is awesome here. :D
one single static frame, by
postcardmystery Avengers movie-verse, Natasha/Clint, Adult, ~3000 words === ::flappy hands:: there needs to be more Black Widow/Hawkeye, hint, hint, hint (in other words: if you find any, SHARE.)
this is war, by angelwing4121 (youtube), Avengers movie-verse, vid === I mentioned this on lj a couple of weeks back but thought I'd put it here, too. I realize this song has been used an a gazillion fandoms, but the Avengers are taking up a lot of space in my brain these days, so this is the vid I'm going with. It was created pre-trailer, so Edward Norton is playing Bruce Banner instead of Mark Ruffalo, but you can't have everything, right? Let's just gloss over how many times I might have watched this, 'k?
Look Here, Look Back, Look Ahead, by
marinarusalka, Iron Man (Noir) comic-verse, Steve/Tony, PG=13, 33,500 words === Iron Man Noir is a run in the comics that re-imagines Iron Man in the World War II era, which definitely screams out for Cap/Iron Man. There are missions that go bad, and Tony being a genius in the middle of nowhere, and Cap being, well, Cap, as well as a romance between them that's really nicely drawn.
In Love and War, Don't Seek Counsel, by
sinuous_curve, Steve/Bucky, NC-17, 5000 words === Bucky's used to looking out for Steve, and even if Steve is Captain America now, that doesn't mean Bucky can't help. Kink-meme fill for bondage. Hot and sweet at the same time, just how I like it.
Hypotenuse, by
derryderrydown, Iron Man (616) comic-verse, Steve/Tony, Steve/Iron Man, Expicit, ~8200 words === So, in the main line of continuity in the comic-verse, generally, people don't know that Iron Man is Tony Stark. He's supposed to be Tony's bodyguard. This is important here, because Steve and Tony are fucking, and it's crazy-good, except Steve finds himself falling in love with Iron Man. I know, I know, but it works, and you know, it's Tony: he can always find a way to mess up the interpersonal relationships. It's a good thing Steve's as stubborn as they come. Again with the hot and sweet.
Honey, I Can See The Stars, by
twentysomething, Avengers movie-verse, Tony/Steve, Adult, ~11,700 words === Tony woos Steve. There are, of course, a few complications, but it all works out in the end.
Tomorrow Belongs To Me, by
valtyr, Avengers movie-verse, Tony/Steve, Explicit, ~87,800 words === Yep, you've probably already read this one, but you can go read it again, right? Steve isn't all that impressed with the 21st Century, Tony is really annoyed by who Steve is, and somehow, in the middle of putting a team together, they figure out a lot of other things, too. Featuring a terrific Pepper and Natasha.
ready, fire, aim, by
gyzym, Avengers movie-verse, Tony/Steve, NC-17, ~21,800 words === Captain America and Iron Man get along great. They save the world regularly. Steve and Tony really, really don't. (Not a hidden identity fic; they're just being stubborn.) Until they do. Happy endings ftw, surprise. :D
Undone, by
yahtzee, X-Men: First Class/X-Men 3, Charles/Erik, NC-17, ~6600 words === OUCH. I mean, it's Charles and Erik, it almost has to be painful, but this takes the end of X3 and feeds into the middle of XMFC, and that just ramps the pain potential exponentially. It's on my list, so you know it has at least a hopeful ending, but it still packs a gut punch.
Quick Like A Bunny, by
innie_darling, Sherlock/Queer Eye For The Straight Guy, PG-13, gen (but Sherlock and John do love each other), ~6600 words === I love fandom--how else would we get gems like this? Mrs. Hudson needs *someone* to clear up after Sherlock's been bored.
The Space Between The Bullets In Our Firefight, by
embroiderama, art by
mysticwaters, CWrps AU, JA/JDM, NC-17, ~14,700 words === A Reverse Bang fic featuring FBI agents, no daddy kink, a super-intense first time, and an extra dose of H/C. Yes, please.
The Heart of Everything, by
cleflink, art by
inkruns, CWrps AU, JA/JP, R, ~23,800 words === I am a sucker for steampunk, but so often the setting overwhelms the characters and I end up bored and uncaring (profic just as often as fandom.) Not so in this one: the world-building is accomplished with a deft, light hand, which leaves plenty of time for the people. Jared is strong and good and smart and funny, and Jensen is just as strong, and he's snarky and hurt and pretty damn awesome. Wow, I loved this one so much.
After Hours, by
bertee, CWrps AU, Jensen/Jeff, PG-13, ~1900 words === Sequel to Fully Licensed (linked at the top) where Jeff's a spy and Jensen is his Bond guy, and wherein Jensen has a very bad day. Cuddling is required.
Feast, by
pensnest, Pop/AI, Lance/Adam/Brad, NC-17, ~14,3600 words === What every gay Jewish boy wants for Christmas, indeed. Carry on.
Lose My Breath, White Nights, by
deirdre_c, Kolya/Ray, vid === There is NO subtext in this movie; it's all text. Of course, I might not be the most unbiased of observers, because I've seen Misha dance in person six times, everything from Giselle to Baryshnikov by Tharp, and every time, it was this almost-transcendent experience. I almost didn't want to go see him in the 80s with D, because I knew the ballet was not D's most favorite of things and I didn't know how I'd react if he was unimpressed, but I needn't have worried. Back in the day, it was fashionable to say that he lacked the purity of Martins and the power of Bujones, but even when I was young and stupid, I knew that was nothing but sour grapes, if only because nobody ever made you cry like Misha. So, y'know, I love this vid. :D
