topaz119: (yay!)
Okay, so we survived graduation weekend! It was pleasant, even. My mother felt well enough to not only do the actual graduation ceremony, but also our festive dinner after (at Maggiano's because that's Oldest's favorite restaurant ever (that's not a dive Tex-Mex, pizza, or barbecue joint)), BabyBoy's karate test (whee, he punched his way through many boards, everyone was impressed) and a showing of the Avengers the next day. My father kept his mouth relatively inoffensive, and my in-laws allowed me to drive them everywhere, thus reducing their stress about city traffic to a manageable level.

I was just about to get all sniffly at the end of the graduation ceremony itself but for some reason they used music from Star Wars as the recessional and I cracked up instead. (The medal-awarding scene from the original movie… very stirring and dignified, etc, but still. STAR WARS. Srsly, wtf?)

And now school is out, and I do not have to get out of bed before it the sun is up, \o/.

I played with my tumblr yesterday (I am [tumblr.com profile] topaz119 there, too, surprise) though for right now, all I seem to be doing is posting space videos and dithering about whether or not I should follow names that I recognize from dw/lj. (After a decade of this here, you'd think I'd be over the insecurity, but apparently high school is the gift that keeps giving.) It is very, very pretty there, isn't it? I suppose I should start re-posting the pretty I stumble across. (And figuring out tags so I can find things again. Who knew that the database mgmt. class with all those attribute-naming exercises would be the thing I refer to again and again over the years?)

My dear friend J is going to be in town next weekend; we are debating seeing the Avengers again or Battleship (she has seen it already and says that she had to refrain from texting me during the movie because she knew I'd love some point or another. Plus: Tim Riggins. In uniform. And you know how I feel about uniforms.)

Also, the trailer for Baz Luhrman's The Great Gatsby? Am I the only person who watched that and thought, omg, when did Leo start injecting himself with Redford's DNA? Yes? Okay, then, NM.

Happy Tuesday everyone--have a nice week!
