The last few weeks have been an exercise in constant, low-level (in the sense that nobody's died, been diagnosed with anything worse than they've already been diagnosed with, or lost their job) not-goodness. Writing has been next to impossible (I haven't quite thrown in the towel on [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang but the 'here's how to turn in your draft' post yesterday did underscore that a page of notes and a vague outline aren't quite where it's at) and reading hasn't been much better. But 10 pages a day does add up, and it *is* Wednesday, so here we go.

What I just finished
A Little Folly, by Jude Morgan, which I enjoyed very much. Mad props to Ms Morgan for maintaining the Austen-esque style the entire time and still making me laugh out loud more than once. I would have flat-out loved this if I hadn't been tempted to smack the ultimate Mr. Right upside the head for his semi-passive-aggressive sulk. She's not going to *know* you love her if you don't, you know, *mention* it, in WORDS. I mean, it was all very in keeping with his character (and hers) but it didn't mean I didn't want to smack him. Other than that, I very much enjoyed the country cousins' look at Regency London, with a special shout-out to the festivities at the end of the Napoleonic War (pre-Elba break-out.)

What I'm reading now
The Madness Underneath, by Maureen Johnson. YA paranormal and the sequel to The Name of the Star, which did a great spin on Jack the Ripper (using the case in modern day.) The library is making unhappy overdue noises at me, but if I let it go, it'll take months to get it back so I'm trying to finish in the next few days.

What's Next
comixology finally got their act together with the free Marvel #1s and I, um, might have 30 or so new downloads, koff. Given how totally fractured my attention span is these days, 32 pages of illustrated story might be my best bet for distraction and entertainment.
