topaz119: (somanybooks)
random writing
I managed to remember to sign up for [livejournal.com profile] picfor1000 for another year, and my prompt is this, which looks interesting but is not quite sparking any bunnies yet. (Well, that's not entirely true--I have this half-started Ghostbusters/Avengers fusion with all the Marvel ladies playing the Ghostbusters and Hawkeye being the metaphorical damsel in distress, and the picture makes me think of Annie Potts (who is, in my little world, played by Darcy) hitting the button to ring the alarm and yelling, "WE GOT ONE!" from the original movie but I don't think I can work all that into 1000 words.) I will think upon it.

Also, last year I signed up for [community profile] trope_bingo, and of course, did not bingo anything. I had a couple of things written for it, but then my dad passed away and I completely spaced on posting anything for amnesty, so I think I'm going to keep writing on the card I got last year and see what else I can write for it. I can always use something that can prompt me to go short, because goodness knows I have enough long things in progress.

wednesday reading
wow, look, two weeks in a row!

finished
Summer Knight, Jim Butcher, book 4 of the Dresden Files (the Sidhe one.) The HoB loves this series, which is my main reason for reading/listening to it and James Marsters is good enough reading it that I'm entertained and diverted on my daily commute.

Bonfire Night, Deanna Raybourn, a quick novella with Lady Julia and Brisbane and shenanigans of the family sort. I am now sort of conflating her butler, Aquinas, with Edwin Jarvis, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.

reading now
In the Bleak Midwinter, Julia Spencer-Fleming -- I got sidetracked from this last week, but need to get back to it as it is a library book & will go *poof* soon.

next
Whatever Book 5 of the Dresden Files is -- I have it downloaded onto my phone & will start with it on tomorrow's trip to/from the office.
