it’s only tuesday? how can this be?
Dec. 18th, 2018 05:00 pmIn its effort to be the sh*ttiest year ever (not including the 14 month span where both my parents passed away but coming close), 2018 doubled-down this week with:
Yet another fraudulent money issue stemming from the theft of D’s truck, this one serious enough that we shut down the main account so that I’m scrambling to re-direct deposits and re-populate bill pay accounts (in YET MOAR IRONY, the sh*tty back-end system that won’t let me migrate payees to a new account but instead insists that I re-enter them all is one that I dodged working professionally on for years b/c of exactly how frankensteined-together it was)
AND a dying water heater, complete with water all over the floor and a $1500 US replacement bill right in time for the holidays.
sigh
My time-honored way to deal with all this is to, of course, turn my id loose and write whatever it effing wants, which would currently appear to be a sequel to the Han/Lando PWP and what’s turning out to be a sweet, kinda sad Fraction-Aja Hawkeye/Fab Five crossover, but since it is also the crazed holiday season, these are moving rather slowly.
My brain keeps poking me every time it sees set photos from Star Trek: Discovery with Anson Mount as Christopher Pike (fingers crossed he’s more Bruce Greenwood than the original iteration) but this morning there was one with Pike and Number One and I would really really really like it if she was a) not a robot, and b) not an alien. Optionally, I would add a c) gets an actual name that is not Eunice. (These ramblings brought to you by the research I did when I was writing Shining On The Quay and the aggravations of the portrayal of women in a) the original series; and b) what limited extended universe information I could find on Number One.)
Also re: brain pokings, every time it sees that shot of Hawkeye from the End Game trailer, it yells at me that we should really write more of the (pre-Snap) small town girl series. Since we've already covered Strike Team Delta & the family at Disney World, I guess an in-depth farm Christmas might not be a bad thing.
Of course, my house is a wreck, there is a D&D party on Thursday night taking place in the middle of said wreck, I only have about a third of the holiday decorations out, the gingerbread was a disaster, and I haven't started on cards or the serious cookies, much less gotten even half of my shopping done so I don't know when La Brain thinks we're going to have time for any recreational writing, but yeah, there we are…
I hope your week is going well!!
sigh
