sunday snippet and random updates

My acting kid is starting the audition process for next summer work--it's such a grind, but he handles it so well. This past summer he ended up working an outdoor, original-staging version of Hair, so he didn't shave or cut his hair from spring break through the middle of August, and I got these random updates from him, like I was annointed Robe Holder today--everybody got naked in front of me and threw their robes at me as they went onstage, whoo. (We did not mention this production in front of his very conservative grandparents for obvs reasons.) This year, he says he's jonesing for the Elizabethans, so Shakespeare or Marlowe (but really, Shakespeare b/c who actually does Marlowe these days?) This means I get random skype/zooms to watch him do his monologues, so I'm all in on Twelfth Night at weird times.

Kids, y'know? I'm an engineer married to an engineer. Who knew I was going to be drowning in the Bard?

Anyway, Sunday writing snippet, which is more of the ST:Discovery H/C that I've been fighting my way through. I actually started posting this in an effort to keep my brain terrorized enough to push through and wrap up the last few thousand words...

( I do love Number One and Pike on the bridge; they're a lot of fun to write even when everything is falling apart around them )
